The fan part is great. Love the engineering, easy to put up by yourself, puts out enough breeze for a small bedroom. The breeze is pretty localized right under the fan though. I guess you would expect that for such short blades and an 8' ceiling. It is also very quiet right out of the box. I did not have to balance it. With the blades being so short, I guess that is not really surprising either. The instructions say to run it for a little while and it will get quieter. It seems pretty quiet, easy to sleep with. However, the light is beyond useless. Come with a 50w halogen bulb and a very smokey light cover. Just enough light for a night light if you are afraid of the complete darkness. Tried a 75w halogen bulb, not much help. There is enough light with the cover off, but it is very harsh and ugly without the cover. I will be keeping the fan, but buying an additional light for my daughter's room. I don't like giving products a bad rating, but if you can't tell, I am pretty dissappointed with the light.
