I purchased two of these benches, not really expecting much, but hopeful that the reviews were honest.When they arrived today, I immediately opened the first box, expecting a mess of parts and hard-to-understand directions. To my great surprise, you basically put together 2 boxes with a few screws, set the bench atop the boxes (no further attaching system needed) and you're done. It's not a stretch to say that assembly can be done in half an hour. I partnered up, and it made the process a breeze. The only thing I'm still unclear about is which way the bench is supposed to sit. There are two directions that it can attach to the planters, either with the bench resting on the narrower space, making the seat higher, but without gaps between the bench and the back, top edge of the planter; or with the bench resting on the wider space, which leaves a gap between the bench and the back, top edge of the planter, which makes the seat a smidge lower. It's probably personal preference, but we'll try it both ways and see which works best.Time will tell how well these hold up, but at about $76 at the time of this review (I paid $71 on prime day), I don't think I could build these for cheaper, and they're very cute. They feel sturdy when sitting on them, but as others have mentioned, they really only comfortably seat one person. They CAN fit 2, provided you're reasonably narrow-hipped, you don't mind touching each other while seated and you don't intend to sprawl at all. Probably great for a couple small children to sit with each other. Others have also mentioned that the planters don't have bottoms. That's correct. I wouldn't want to plant directly in these anyway, so get a couple decorative potted plants, put a box or an overturned pot inside the bottom of each planter, and set your decorative pots atop those. Easy peasy.I'll be keeping an eye out for the price to drop again (I know, what's $5 though...) so I can purchase one more of these for my backyard to flank my pergola, as another user did. Buy these! The value for the dollar is definitely there and you just can't beat the price and ease of assembly.Really amazing quality and sturdy material I just love them. I ordered 2 of these, and they came in really fast. I wanted to put them in a “L shaped” setup so it came out amazing plus I got a chance to use the fourth planter to use elsewhere. It took me about 20-25mins to assemble each of them. Even though they are weather proof I also ordered a bottle of Teak Oil for extra protection. Overall its a great buy for a great price.We are using this bench at the fppt of our bed. The boxes come with no bottoms and we knew that when we ordered them. I added a bottom to both boxes and they serve as his & hers clothes hampers.This is really quite nice. It was easy to put together. Note that, when you add the seat, the space for the planter becomes more narrow. Had it a short time, so don't know how it holds up over time.I ordered two of these benches, and while both of them are cosmetically imperfect (non-uniform slat spacing and visibly uneven teak oil application), they're 100% worth the price. They're easy to assemble, conceptually fun, and very easy to move around (you can move each bench in 3 separate pieces, so anyone can move them solo once they're assembled). It's such a clever design for a bench/planter! I would recommend these to anyone looking for outdoor seating you don't expect to look cosmetically perfect, or anyone working with a limited budget. As a rule, one generally has to pay more for perfection, and these are a serious bargain.These turned out absolutely beautiful! Super sturdy, easy to assemble and the company was great to deal with when I had a damaged piece. I did put teak oil on them to keep them in good shape.It was super easy to put together and fits perfect on my porch. The wood is not of the best quality but it's to be expected for the price. I'm going to put a clear wood sealer on it to keep it looking nice and protect the wood. I'm happy with my purchase.Arrived quickly. My 13 yr old granddaughter and I assembled it...much easier with 2 people. Nice to have someone hold it while putting in the screws for the 1st piece. I do wish the screws faced the sides of the boxes, rather than the front, though the plants hang over and cover them. Planned to seal it, but since we'll be siding the garage a dark gray, I'm leaning toward painting it white. There are no bottoms in the boxes, which I was aware of when I purchased it. I'm glad there isn't. The bench just hooks onto the side of the box and it's very sturdy. Lifting it off and having empty boxes makes it easy to move around and easy to store for winter, as this is Mn. I placed an ice cream bucket upside down in the boxes, then placed a concrete paver on top of that and set a hanging basket on it. You cannot tell its not directly planted in there. Am considering ordering another.Thought this was a proper planter but it doesn't have a bottom so really only decorative rather than practical. I kept them to use elsewhere but had to buy something else to pot up my vegetables.This piece of furniture is sturdy, well-packed and looks good from afar. Hence, two star. The rest is... well... First of all, the true color of the thing is NOT as in the pictures. It is actually orangish-brown. Not ugly, but also not true to what was advertised. Secondly, it is very amateurishly made. Evidently, much of the material is painted scrap-wood, perhaps leftover from other projects. Lots of dents and checks in the wood are all over the place, often covered by some glue to cover up the low quality. Thirdly, the people who made this were obviously lazy, and did not want to use too much sandpaper. In my estimate, it was polished to only about 120 - 140 grit, at best, on most spots, leaving the wood very rough to the touch. Fourth, is the issue with the planters not having bottoms, which is just plain silly and defeats the purpose of the design to begin with. In conclusion, although this has much potential, I would take my money elsewhere, as this company apparently did not have the customer's best interest in mind!Great product .Great for the priceEnded up returning this item as did not understand why they had NO base. They are basically expensive wooden plant pot covers.
