I recently purchased (received on 8-22-2022 from Amazon) a BossComm IF-745 OBD2 scanner to test several cars that my family has (2011 Hyundai Sonata and 2004 Toyota Sienna) and over the past week I have taken note of the following Pros and Cons/problems. As a result I have decided to return the device for a refund.Pros:1) The device has a nice, high resolution display. However, it is not a touch screen (which was noted in the ad) which is common today and I would highly recommend. I also noticed under product specifications in the product manual/brochure that it is supposed to be a touch screen, so please make sure the manual matches the product.2) This has been the only OBD2 scanner out of the 6 that I have tried ( 2 HFs, 1 PC based, 1 AZ, 1 Dealer, and the IF-745) to actually be able to read SRS (airbag) trouble codes (and clear them!). Good job!3) Overall build quality of the device seems very good.Cons:1) Upon receiving the unit I noticed that while the device has a charging port for a wall adapter no adapter was supplied with it - should I have received a charger with it or not, if not why is there a charging port?2) Speaking of charging, is there a rechargeable battery in this device? The product description gives the impression there is, yet the device only seems to power up only when attached to the OBD2 port or a USB port. How does one tell the status of the internal battery? Which leads to my next question, where's the power switch?3) There is no ON/OFF switch! Why? How am I to review offline stored DTC codes that are "Printed" to PDF files internally to the unit unless I can turn it ON? If nothing else, add a Key Button combination (such as Fn+OK) that can both turn ON and turn OFF the device.4) I tried to upgrade the device via Wi-Fi (preferred method per manual) but there was a problem, while it found my router, the Virtual Keyboard does not include most special characters (such as !, @, $, %, &. etc) that I use as part of my normal Wi-Fi password. I can't log the IF-745 into my Wi-Fi due to the lack of keyboard characters (and I won't be changing my password to accommodate the IF-745)! Fix this by adding all normal/special characters to the Virtual Keyboard!5) In attempting to update the software via a USB-PC connection (per manual) I found no specific reference for the IF-745 device on the BC website, however, there is a reference link for the IFIX-701 DIY Update Client V10.0 software, but no link for any manual. Also, there is a reference for an IFIX-750 device, but there is no link for either the software or a manual for an IFIX-745. At this point I decided to give up on trying to update the device (I'm a little nervous about down loading/running software from a problematic source). Please either add the proper device models or remove the improper references.6) Finally, getting in touch with BC has been a challenge since there are two different emails listed for contacting BC but neither seems to be an active link, so I hope this message reaches them.I used this product to check engine codes and worked quite well, it really wasn’t the best at abs testing but was “ok”, the settings could be payed out in a better format.. for ease of usability it was quite confusing at firstLo recomiendo super facil interfaz de usurio ,varios idiomas,muy eficiente, lo recomiendooo,prueben con uno de estos antes de gastar miles de dólares y ya verán!!!It’s easy to use and very helpful for your car health because after the diagnostic you will know what is wrong with your car.very good, it has served me for everything I need, it comes very completeEasy to use, Affordable, practical,Everyone who can work on vehicles should have this in the tool lineup.N/AReally easy for diy projects and easy to diagnose trouble codes or system information
